Tuesday Topics 05.06.14Technology has made work amazing. We can video chat, email, snapchat, and text with just a push of a button. We can communicate with anyone in the world at any time. We can be “on” 24/7. But, with this power comes great responsibility and a lot of us find it difficult at night to wrap up our last emails, power down our computers, and silence our cell phones. If we were to be honest with ourselves, we haven’t given our own self-care a whole lot of thought… if any thought at all. We all know self-care is important, but finding our “me” time can seem like an impossible feat. Here are a few tips that I’ve learned that can help integrate self-care into your own life seamlessly and conveniently.

 Schedule Your Self-Care Time

I find its easier to set aside time for myself when I schedule “me time” into my everyday calendar just as if it were a doctor’s appointment or an important meeting. It’s great to have good intentions and want to take care of ourselves, but we won’t do it if we don’t make time to.

 Treat Yourself

What revives you? What do you love to do? Set aside 5 to 10 minutes a day and do it! If cooking gives you solace, bring a few extra yummy ingredients to the office and whip up a snack. If you love being physically active, during the day step away from your desk and take a brisk walk around the block. If you love to draw, sketch a quick doodle. You get the idea!

 Don’t Stress

Finally, whatever amount of time you are able to set aside for you is good enough! Don’t stress if you can only set aside 5 minutes. A few minutes of self-care time is definitely better than none at all.

As always we love hearing from you! So now that I’ve gotten you thinking about self-care, tell us in the comments section below, what are your self-care plans for this spring?
