Get to Know More About Tenne…

What’s your name and what do you do around here…

My name is Tenne Wordsworth and I help parents and families raise self-regulating and resilient children.

5 words to describe you…

authentic / open / positive / gentle / caring

What do you love most about working at GTA…

I am new to GTA but look forward to families’ commitment and involvement in their child’s therapy and being entrusted by families to help their child heal and grow.

What should clients know about working with you…

I love working with children. They are energetic, creative and extremely funny. I usually use play therapy when working with children and finds that it helps children express what is bothering them when they are not able to express it verbally. Play helps to regulate emotions, provides the opportunity to practice and master social, emotional and problem solving skills. Also, the family’s involvement is essential to the child’s success.

Tweet that (you life story in 140 characters)…

Well, I don’t have twitter but it would look like this…I’m a wife, mom, veteran (go Army) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I love helping families cultivate healthy relationships with their children.

If I wasn’t doing this I’d be…

An organizer, who help Clients’ organize and structure their lives and probably would include free (unsolicited) parent consultation.

The official story…

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) with both my undergrad and graduate degrees. I have been practicing for eight years and have worked in a variety of settings to include residential, In/out patient, and community mental health.

As a result, I have worked with diverse populations to include the severely mentally ill, trauma survivors, couples and Military/ blended families. However, my passion is working with children ages 3-12 with behavioral, social and emotional issues. I have discovered that when families are included in their child’s therapy it helps to ensure the positive changes transcend to all areas of their child’s life.
