What’s your name and what do you do around here…

My name is Lisa McKinney and I’ve been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since – well let’s just say for quite a while instead of decades. I love to see families, individuals, children and couples.

5 words to describe you…

Committed/ Kind / Tough when necessary /committed to making every day count/ goofy

At work I’m all these things x20 with a little professionalism sprinkled in!

What do you love most about working at GTA…

GTA has become a huge part of my world since arriving from Florida. I look forward to hanging with my co-workers and helping my clients succeed.

What should clients know about working with you…

You should know that I’m here to help them help you. I will support you in all possible ways to reach your goals, add just the right amount of professional incentive when it’s needed, and push to get you where you’re going. Don’t worry though, I won’t push you over the edge, and I’ll never leave you hanging over the abyss. I’ll be your constant resource and cheerleader as you make your journey through change.

Tweet that (you life story in 140 characters)…

Mom, Navy wife, romance author who believes in happily ever after, and  marriage & family therapist who believes that anyone can change life

If I wasn’t doing this I’d be…

I would be a full time author writing happily ever after stories all day long. I’d be handing out free advice to anyone who’d listen.

The official story…

I am a mom who juggles a busy life and I love it that way. I’m a wife to a Navy Captain who is my assistant juggler. (I’m not sure he’d agree with me. He likes to think he’s the boss.) I’m a romance author who actually believes in happily ever after. Finally, I’m a marriage and family therapist who feels strongly that anyone can change anything in their lives.

I have always believed that there is no such thing as too much education. I have a dual masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and Family Studies; a BA in Psychology and a degree in Business Administration.  I’m currently in pursuit of a certification in Health Coaching.

I am experienced with all areas of therapy. My favorite time at work is spent working with clients who are invested in their own change – no matter what issues they face. I believe that good therapy is an evolving partnership which allows the client to do the work for themselves. My therapeutic theme – there is a solution for everything. Now all we have to do is find it.
